It's free software. If I want I can take emacs and call it "christmas_tree"
and that would be legal. It would probably be very annoying to type
all those letters every time I wanted to do some small changes in a file
though.
If RMS doesn't want his software to be free, he can just add a line to
the GPL that says "you are not allowed to use this code in software
with a different name". I'm sure that people who use the GPL would
love it.
