Why talk about war in a OpenBSD mailing list? Oh well...
I think it would be funny to see the politicians try and pass something
as stupid as this. NAT is one of the greatest things since TCP/IP. We'll
watch in amazement as they congratulate themselves for "taking an active
stance on the 'war' on hacking & spam" then we'll watch in horror as all
our precious IP address space dwindles down with no hope of
replenishing. Then the very politicians who created all this mess will
in turn, blame it on us (the IT community) for not coming up with a
solution to a problem they created by thinking they could solve a
problem by doing away with a solution already in place to solve a
totally different problem.
Just grit your teeth & deal... I for one, would choose going to jail. I
value my internet freedom, afterall that is the whole reason behind a
PUBLIC NETWORK! Isn't it?

Chris:
Whether we support or oppose the politicians of the day won't
make much of a difference. They are not listening, they have made
up their minds.
What we can do is at least protect this project, and try to keep the
lists on topic so our wildly differing opinions don't cause any more
damage.

Our position is that whatever grievances a nation may have, however
objectionable it finds the status quo, aggressive warfare is an illegal
means for settling those grievances or for altering those conditions.
