audio issues (emu(4), eap(4), and auich(4))

Hi,

I'm trying desperately to find a well-supported audio device for
OpenBSD. So far, I've tried four devices, supported by three different
drivers.

emu(4) - tried the SoundBlaster Live! and PCI512 cards. Volume resets
to maximum after every track.

eap(4) - tried the SoundBlaster PCI128. Audio only comes from one side
and is incredibly slow and choppy, to the point of being completely
un-listenable. In addition, when trying to play music, I get this
message - "eap0: eap1371_read_codec timeout 2".

auich(4) - integrated on Asus P4SDX motherboard. No sound whatsoever,
just snap, crackle and pop.

Quite frankly, this is driving me up the wall, and I'm running out of
cards on the supported hardware list to try. I'm running -current/i386
as of June 4th. If any of these problems interest a developer, I can
test patches and/or ship you an emu(4) or eap(4) like the ones I tried.
Or maybe someone just has a suggestion for a different card?

Thanks for any and all help,

-Sunny Raspet

PS: for length, I've not included the audioctl -a and mixerctl -a output
for the auich and the eap cards. Any interested parties, please feel
free to mail me offlist and I'll send it along.
