I've seen this problem as well with an Asus A7V600 motherboard on both 3.3 and 3.4-latestsnapshot.  I think it's an IRQ conflict, the sound chip doesn't like sharing.  It works if I disable the onboard USB (which takes 3 IRQs, and shares with the sound on 7 on mine), if I don't it hangs when initialising uhci2.
