In theory there is a way to run silc inside xchat. I don't remember
the exact options required, but one can open a terminal session inside
xchat, as one chat window. (Or tab..)
Within this terminal any shell application can be used. Word of
warning: it looks really ugly. So far no-one has written a silc module
or plugin for xchat, at least as far as I know.
So an answer to "is it possible to run silc with xchat?" is:
In theory, yes - in practice, no. What the original asker probably
wanted to know, is whether there is a native module supporting silc for
xchat.
(And as to what silc is, http://www.silcnet.org can answer better than
I ever could.)
