spamd connections increasing!

# netstat -n | grep "8025 " | wc -l
     148

and this number is going up a little every day,
not down....


And that is just the main mail server, mx record 0,
the other three run about a third each, around 50 
today...

A what point should one consider dedicating a 
separate server(s), putting the pf redirect in
front on fireall to it another computer 
rather than on same server as mail...

I know that spamd is robust, but,  200, 500, 1000?
continous connections, and ofter different from days
before, the rate is not exponential, but it sure is climbing

wonder if anyone is already seeing 500+ or 1000+ or more
continious and if so how much memory do you have
on that computer? did you stop verbose logging.
etc...


its not a problem for now, because I'll add another
256M stick this weekend I reckon...

any thoughts-, because figure in another month or two that
I'll hit and stay above the 500 mark. probably sooner, the way
the spam relaying is going not even spews could
keep up. maybe 1000+ before christmas if msdoze
has yet more exploits.
