Re: URGENT - OpenBSD 3.1 problem
Ugh. You untared src.tar.gz in the wrong place, such that you
over wrote various things in /usr with the contents in src.tar.gz.
As an example, you blasted bin. You wanted to be in /usr/src
when you did the tar, not /usr.
You have something of a mess here. My suggestion would be
to save the relevant data in /etc and /var (you HAVE been making
backups of the web data, right?), and install either 3.3 or the
current snapshot as of today. If you aren't expert in dealing
with disasters like this, its far faster to simply save stuff, and
reinstall the world. Sometime when you have the leasure to
do this kind of stuff, try this again and work on fixing it. You
don't want to do that now however; you have a system to get
back up.
You wanted to update ssh, which is a good thing. You took the
radical route, but you'll be OK in the end. Just tell who ever that
you're going to have a few hours of down time. Don't panic.
The most important thing at the moment is to save config data
before you plunge ahead.
If you really can't do this, getting a fresh copy of /usr/lib should
get you going; it should (I think) fix the ld.so issue, but you still
have other problems in /usr. Gven whats happened, I think I'd
take the route of installation.
