Just ran into this myself on my "new" iMac.

Trick that worked for me was to use the 'D' option of disklabel.  That
wipes the disklabel to the "Default" configuration, based on the fdisk
layout.  That made the 'i' partition the "proper" size and shape for
the "DOS" partition.

I'm not sure where the bogus 'i' partition size came from, but it
wasn't right.
