In the spirit of rope-giving, a more interesting approach would be
to do a  CVS update of /usr/src  and doing the update  if there is
any output (don't forget the ``-q'' flag). Setting the cron job to
run more than  once a day would be excessive. Even  once a day may
be too much.

You're also assuming, of course, that you won't be getting partial
updates out of CVS--that is, that you don't just happen to hit the
server when some, but not all, of the updates have been committed.
