You are mistaken.

You can continue to run the OpenBSD 3.3 executables.  You need to
have the old 3.3 libraries.  If they're not around any longer from
upgrading the system, you can extract them from the 3.3 release.
On i386, you need to run the 3.3 executable with compat_aout(8).

I run the 3.3 executable on alpha, i386, and sparc64 -current.
