Re: install OpenBSD without apache
Hi Man,
Apache (the binary is called "httpd") is normally not turned on in the
default installation of OpenBSD. If you want to delete httpd from the
binary files, you can do that too.
Study the file /etc/rc.conf and you will see a line where
httpd_flags=NO is set in the default configuration. This has to be
changed to something else (see the note there) to make Apache work.
Therefore you can know that Apache is not normally set to be working, so
actually, you do not have to do anything to prevent Apache from working,
when you install OpenBSD. Other operating systems may install with
Apache working by default, but this is not the case with OpenBSD.
FYI, you wrote to www@openbsd.org, whereas beginners questions should
normally be submitted to the "misc" mailing list, and not to the "www"
mailing list, since www is for questions relating to the explicit contents
and wording in the web pages of the OpenBSD site. I have cc'd this letter
to misc@openbsd.org.
