3.5 release
Due in no small part to being on the antipodean end of a snail mail
system waiting for my pre-ordered CDs of 3.5 and having a brand new
1.5Mb/s pipe I tested the popularity of OpenBSD when the only download
point visible was Mother (ftp.openbsd.org).
It took about 15 hours but I ended up with the odd bits like
ports.tar.gz and the packages I wanted from a Californian mirror.
I figure that the only way my download could have been so slow was that
there were so many people gobbling on the big pipes at OBSD Central.
I hope that many of those people are also waiting for their CDs or will
find another way to contribute some $$ to the effort.
It's just one time I hate being 10 hours ahead of GMT and having heaps
of unused download volume for the month of April unused and couldn't
even get a set of files here in 9 hours from when I saw the message at
1500 AEST.
But that's life.... and Murphy says that my CDs will be in the PO BOX
on Monday.
Thanks again all whose work went into release, ports and packages for
3.5.
Well done!
