First off, is your Ethernet Card being properly detected by OpenBSD?

ifconfig -a

2nd, are you getting link lights on your DSL modem?
How about on the back of the NIC?

3rd, does OpenBSD think that the NIC is connected to something?
again ifconfig -a or ifconfig <ifname> depending on your brand of NIC

What if you plug the NIC into something else, like a switch or router, 
does it work then?
