Here's an entire Google search (ide flat round test results)
http://www.google.com/search?num=30&hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=ide+round+flat+test+results&btnG=Search
You're wrong on multiple points, Breen. Nothing you've said supports
your allegation that "round cables are junk". And all of your blustering
FUD, hype and hot air won't change that. I'm sure your experience
selling computers has given you some valuable insights into
electromagnetics, but the fact remains that many people get very good,
reliable service from round cables. Furthermore, there are test results
available in the link above that show that at least some round cables
outperform flat cables.
Another fact is that, electromagnetically speaking, there is nothing
inherently superior about a flat cable vs. a round cable. However, if
you think you're really on to something, I'd suggest you approach the
avionics community with your plan to reduce EMI emissions and
susceptibility in their equipment by following the IDE standard.
And speaking of the standard, you've said twice that round cables are
"outside the spec". Are you telling us that the spec prohibits use of
round cable?
Here's the bottom line: You made a statement that you can't
substantiate. Just drop it, OK?

not going to try to transform my biases or preferences into statements
of fact... I've seen how foolish that can make people look.
