Greetings,
I have a SDSL business class service w/my ISP. The DSL router I use
is a flowpoint 2200 which has just died on me. The ISP is willing
to sell me a refurbished DSL router as a replacement for some $380+
USD or suggests I find a replacement from a select choice of DSL
router models they recommend me to use.
I don't know much about DSL routers or what protocols they use to
communicate with the WAN side. All I know is that I was given
instructions on how to configure my DSL router and it just worked
'til this morning.
My DSL account gives me a /28 subnet. One IP is taken up by the
DSL router on the LAN side interface. The router is also given
a WAN side IP (set when configuring the router per ISP instructions).
The DSL router is owned by me (from a previous ISP) and there are
no issues as far as my current ISP needing remote access to it.
Before I go out and spend upwards of $400 on a refurbished DSL
router, is there any way I can replace it with an OpenBSD box?
Also, if anyone has any suggestions on other replacement options
for this DSL router I would appreciate hearing/reading about them.
Thanks for reading,
--patrick
