And we agree that, with the 2.0 version it is, as clause 3, and in
particular the last sentence, does not refer to a 'contributor' but to
'you' - the *user*ers of apache too ?

Right - and this is a serious issue which is more than a little debatable
- although greatly helps acceptance of the license outside the US.
