Not at all.  Use the stuff straight from the 2.2 release if that's what
you're running.  You don't need to go to current in order to build a custom
kernel.

Or, you could grab the most recent snapshot, upgrade to it, go to current
source via CVS, and build everything (new kernel and binaries).  Starting
from the snapshot might save a lot of potential build problems, as it's
closer to current.

It's easier to catch up with the moving target if you use the kindly
provided stepping stones left behind by the trailbreakers. :)

I'll be trying the snapshot -> current upgrade this weekend too on my
development system.  I feel the urge to catch up for some reason.
