In reply to myself, now that I made the effort to dig out a dual
layer disc - all is well:

	Filesystem  1K-blocks     Used    Avail Capacity  Mounted on
	...
	/dev/acd0a    7285286  7285286        0   100%    /mnt

(It's Terminator 2 for those wondering)
