Re: Easy Installs
'sokay.
The advantage to package management systems, as I see it, is that they
provide a database of dependancies, installed files, etc. If I want to
install the latest GIMP, for example, I may need to know what libraries
(and versions of those) it requires. Perhaps I need to upgrade a library.
Perhaps some other software product on my system doen't work with the new
library and will also need to be upgraded. Then, what do I do when I want
to *remove* something. How do I know which files may safely be removed?
Package managers are just a database application.
