I installed 2.5 just recently, and it started using my gfxcard from scratch,
but when I do "startx" it uses AGA directly, so my tip would be to try
just "startx" and see if you can't get it running?
(Don't forget that ctrl-alt-backspace will end the X session and bring
you back to console mode)
