CONSOLE

i am currently having troubles running IRC from console mode. i
currently am using Xwindows to run bx or irciiEPIC. that is fine. but i
wish to use in console mode as well. well when i run bx or epic it shows
these weird colors in epic which is weird. like ugly brown and ugly
green. 

my current term setting is vt220, i also tried vt100 and ansi. it still
doesnt work.

any suggestions?
