Agreed.

I think we'd be better off just letting the port do the installation by
itself after patching po/Makefile.in.in and intl/Makefile.in to put
their files in the right places.

Attached is my version of the updated port (too much to diff, just
sending a new shar.)  This includes a no_esd flavor simply because I
hate esd and don't like using it.  I have tested both versions and both
build and install fine.  Oh, and I took MAINTAINER unless someone else
really wants it.
