While I generally do encourage people to double-check whether any
gmake dependency is really required and to patch out minor gmake-isms,
I'm not in favor of completely rewriting Makefiles to this purpose.
It does not enhance the maintainability of a port.  In this case the
work had already been done, but no need to go overboard.
