before i applied the libpthread patch, i saw crashes when loading a
database (crashed around the 50,000th insert out of about 500,000). once
that patch was applied to openbsd, things were ok. however, the highest
load on the database in question is the initialization, it isn't getting
stressed so much now that it's in operation, so there could conceiveably be
some bug lurking that hasn't manifested itself yet.
