Try setting your DTE (pc->modem) a bit lower to match your DCE
(modem->modem).  What type of modem? V.34/V.90/Flex?  If you know you're
not going to get a 1:2 compression ratio all the time, then 115200 is a
bit high.

Just as a test, do the errors happen if you drop it to 19200?  Check your
modem manual of the AT command to return your DCE at CONNECT (ATZ on my
3com/USR)
