Just for the record, and if someone is interested or runs into the same
trouble:
I solved this problem by formatting the disk with the SCSI-BIOS and
then installing 2.9. After that, I upgraded the machine to 3.0 with
the "upgrade"-function of the bootdisk floppy30.fs and installed
etc30.tgz by hand. Thereafter, I edited /etc/myname and /etc/hosts.
One more reboot, and 3.0 runs.
