Group IDs in /dev

I deleted some of the extraneous groups on our OpenBSD 2.9 machine, but u
Unfortunatly, the daily 'Charlie Root' messages complained that the groups
are set improperly. The initial complaint was 'group undefined' (or
something like that), so I changed the group for all of the /dev files to
sys. The complaint now is:

Disk /dev/ccd0a is user root, group sys, permissions brw-r-----.
Disk /dev/ccd0b is user root, group sys, permissions brw-r-----.
Disk /dev/ccd0c is user root, group sys, permissions brw-r-----.
Disk /dev/ccd0d is user root, group sys, permissions brw-r-----.
.
.
.

Quesitons:

1) Just how critical are groups in /dev? I thought the only requirement was
that devices belonged to a system (non-user) group?

2) Should I reset the 'Charlie Root' log (how??) or restore the groups I
deleted?

         TIA,

         Lee
