r/o jumpered disks with 2.9 with sun4c

Hello again,

A few weeks ago, I posted to this list about this same topic, and still have yet to come to a resolution. Basically, it appears as though something in scsi_base.c is preventing me from having a disk that is physically jumpered read-only. (My company policy requires that we solder a r/o jumper to a toggle and hang it out of an empty sbus slot)...

I`ve dug through anoncvs and tried compiling with several other versions of scsi_base.c, but each time I "cp bsd /bsd && reboot" i get hung at "root on sd1a" during reboot and am forced to poweroff/on (can`t even break) and boot from bsd.old at the ok prompt (while obviously not jumpered or mounted r/o at this point). Perhaps my source is f***ed, does anyone know a reliable place to get the standard 2.9 source (preferably in a nice little tarball)? Or maybe I`m not compiling it right -- I`m following the docs word-for-word. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I`m basically just doing the "config GENERIC", "make depend" and "make." I`d prefer to user the specific SUN4C, but I`ll live with GENERIC ... anything at this point!!!

Secondly, has ANYONE tried physically jumpering disks with 3.0? Is 3.0 even considered to be stable enough for production?

I`m on my hands and knees begging here... any help whatsoever would be greatly valued and appreciated.
