ftp freezes my 3.0-current pc

I think I've got a little chicken and egg problem with my 3.0-current
box.  I updated my obsd box sometime around 12/23.  Then compiled kernal and
sys. Ever since then, it locks up during cvsup and during make fetch through
tun0.  I tried to access an ftp site and it froze then too.  I had updated
quiet a few times before 12/23 and had no problems before.  I've been to the
archives and tried the
ftp-proxy/nat/pf thingy as suggested in the archives and man pages to no
avail.  My win98 pc was able to ftp in, on rl0.  I "updated" off the
cdrom and the problem went away, even though I was not running ftp-proxy or
nat and my pf rules block all incoming on tun0.  Please, explain what is
happening to my baby.  Why don't I hear everybody else having this problem?
