ifconfig: socket: Protocol not supported
Hi....
I have setup an openbsd 2.9 machine as a firewall with dual nic cards. I
have successfully connected the Internet connection for out connectivity and
have the intranet connection connected with some basic firewall rules and
all is well. Web, email, file/print services are working in and out of the
site.
I need to now enable IPX for a limited number of users with a Novel server
so they access the site. However when I try the ifconfig ipx command as per
the man page I receive the error "ifconfig: socket: Protocol not supported".
I am wondering is this message because there is no compiled support for IPX
in the kernel or am I missing something else?
As per the ifconfig man page, I am converting the IP address to hex and
using this as the ******* in the number below. for example 10.0.0.5 = ipx
A005. Is this correct?
# ifconfig fxp1 ipx ********
ifconfig: socket: Protocol not supported
