Dualboot linux/openbsd Bad magic
Hello, I think this might have been discussed before -- however I could not find any
definitive explanation/solution by searching the web. I got a spare machine that needs
to be spare for two machines, in case of a hardware breakdown. I got linux on the
first 9gb of the disk, and openbsd on the last 9gb. I got lilo in the mbr, it boots linux
fine but when try boot openbsd, I get the error "Bad magic". The disk is scsi.
I heard something about openbsd must be located within the first 1023 sectors on the disk
to be able to boot. Is this correct, or is there a workaround -- or some way to be able to
boot linux and openbsd, without having to install third-party commercial boot managers?
I also tried install bootinst.exe in the mbr and lilo in the start of its own partition. I could
boot
linux there, but not openbsd.
Comments and hints appreciated.
Thanks,
Christoffer
