Hi,
I recently found myself in need of a special feature in ftp-proxy(8);
to be able to redirect incoming clients to a specific server.
(all this was explained in a mail to -misc, but no answer was received
so I'll brush up on it quickly)
This is because I have a static RFC1918 server behind a DHCP firewall
and as I can't have a hostname for an RFC1918 address clients will try
to connect to the firewall IP. I'm sure you see where this is
going... =)
As I said I received no responses for possible solutions so I
brutalized ftp-proxy to support a "force host" option.
Now I'm wondering if anyone (and if so, who) is interested in this
merging this functionality into the distribution? I have patches
against ftp-proxy.c (v1.17), ftp-proxy.8 (v1.7) and util.c (v1.6) and
if anyone wants to take a look let me know (I could provide patches
against another version if this is better). I'd also sleep a little
better if someone more experienced in these matters looked over the
changes although I don't THINK it broke anything... :-|
/Anton
