Full ACK, but I had to use badsect(8) myself on an old laptop disc,
and I must say the procedure from the manpage really works.

My problem was that I needed about fifteen(!) times fsck, just because
one of the bad sectors happened NOT to be a data block... but it
relocated them just fine, after all.

Not to mention, I've replaced the drive (770 MB) as soon as possible,
and since about two months, an old, used, but working 2.1GB drive does
its job in my laptop...

@tedu: this is a tech@ (or hardware :) case...
