Linux compatibility

Well I've been looking through the list archives and have seen my problem 
mentioned before.  I grabbed the linux_lib port from FreeBSD and installed it, 
but when I try and run ldconfig it complains about a bad system call and 
running ktrace/kdump reveals that the binary is being run as a svr4 binary.  
Is there something I can do to make sure that it gets run as a linux binary?
I've got everything installed under /compat/linux with /emul -> /compat
and I've also got COMPAT_LINUX defined as a kernel option.  Can someone shed 
some light on this?  Thanks.
