Along the lines of personal tests, P6 whips P2. Where I used to work we
had a dual P2-233 and a single P6 (both running IntranetWare 4.11) and the
P6 NEVER went down while the dual P2 was going down at least once a week
if not once (or more often) a day. The P6 is simply an incredible
processor.
Someone earlier in this thread mentioned that P2 was pushed out infront of
the P6 because it was cheaper/easier to produce. There is a rumor that
they pushed it because they could patent the Slot technology and lockout
AMD And Cyrix while they couldn't do that with Socket 9.
(Just for those who are curious, I run a K6/2-266 with FreeBSD.)
