No x87 and no *MATH_EMULATE?

Has anyone run OpenBSD-current on a x86 box with no hardware floating point
(i.e., a 386 or a 486SX) without kernel MATH_EMULATE/GPL_MATH_EMULATE support?
Does the kernel and critical parts of the system work, or is x87 emulation
basically required? (the box in mind will not be running things like X that I
know use floating point)
