xl driver messages
I have a few machines with xl (3c905) boards. Partial dmesg from one
such system:
xl0 at pci0 dev 14 function 0 "3Com 3c905 100Base-TX" rev 0x00: irq 9 address 00:60:97:9
3:5f:29
OUI 0x080017 model 0x0000 rev 1 at xl0 phy 24 not configured
xl1 at pci0 dev 16 function 0 "3Com 3c905 100Base-TX" rev 0x00: irq 10 address 00:60:97:
58:45:1b
OUI 0x080017 model 0x0000 rev 0 at xl1 phy 24 not configured
Whenever I boot up and start up networking, I get this two-line message, once per
board:
xl0: transmission error: 90
xl0: tx underrun, increasing tx start threshold to 120
xl1: transmission error: 90
xl1: tx underrun, increasing tx start threshold to 120
THE BOARDS WORK FINE, but the message is a puzzler - it looks like an error,
yet it seems to work fine anyway.
If this will always come up, is there a way to change the initial threshold
value to 120, either via sysctl or via ifconfig?
If most people with xl0's will see this message, would it make sense to change
the code? Or did I somehow get some older xl0's?
TIA
Ian
