updating remote 2.5 to current

Niels has been all excited about the latest OpenSSH et alia, and I'd like to
update my remote patched 2.5 (already has security patches) to take advantage.
This machine is > 700 miles away in an unattended machine room, with no CD, no
keyboard and no monitor.

Is there a procedure that I should follow for compiling and installing
remotely?
