There is a decent, if a bit Linux-centric, Modem-vs-Winmodem page at
http://www.o2.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html .  There you will find a page
(300k) of various modems, whether or not they are winmodems, FCC ID's,
Model numbers, etc.
