Hello,
I'm not sure how these two are related, but since installing patch 006
I've noticed that when cron runs the daily stuff and locate.updatedb
starts, the processor seems to go crazy and the system becomes so slow
that it takes about 5 minutes to get a command entered and to receive
output. It's happened the last two days and I've had to reboot each
time. The reason I'm assuming it's locate.updatedb is because I was up
at 4am when suddenly the system stopped routing packets. I logged in,
though it took a while, then I managed to get a ps output to see what
was up and locate.updatedb was all that was running. Perhaps something
else caused it and I couldn't get any info until it was too late.
Anything else I can send or do to help? I'm not sure what else to say
as the system seems to slow down so badly that it's difficult for me to
enter commands, let alone debug.
