idled and ftp processes

I have idled setup to limit simultaneous user sessions to 3.
When people ftp, and disconnect, a utmp entry lingers around for a very
long time. Most of the time they do not go away. This confuses idled and
thinks that they are logged in, so if 3 ftp utmps are "hung" the user
cannot log in. Idled attempts to terminate the ftp session, but fails (and
keeps trying). Is there a way to tell idled to ignore sessions that are on
ftp* ? Or is there a fix in OpenBSD to correctly delete the utmp entries
for ghost ftp sessions?
Thanks in advance...
