Reboot command isn't working

Greetings all,

I can reboot my machine from the boot> prompt, but when I issue the reboot
command, the machine hangs after syncing the disks (synching disks...
done). I have to physically reset or power down/up the machine after that.

What shall I do next to help resolve this problem?
