Hi gurus.
My box is an i386 (configured for 64 maxusers and with disabled drivers,
that I don't need). It works as a mail HUB/gtw. It also runs apache (it
just lives, but doesn't serve under heavy load yet), mysql and X11. Other
packages wouldn't affect system performance/stability IMHO.
On Sunday, my collegue has started XFree and Netscape. The nutscape
couldn't connect to a server, that is on the same cable/segment. Then it
went down. Noone has used the box in that moment (except the collegue).
The box restarted with:
Jun 6 11:32:15 backbone /bsd: WARNING: / was not properly unmounted
My question is pretty simple. How can I investigate this accident? What
should I look at? (if you need more info, please tell me, what you like to
see, I will post it here)
What happens, when kernel hangs? Will it restart machine, or it jumps to a
debug prompt?
---
What netscape says everytime:
Jun 7 09:20:43 backbone netscape: /etc/pwd.db: Invalid argument
Jun 7 09:20:43 backbone last message repeated 3 times
---
Thanks.
Leo
