Hi again all,
I was wondering if i could continue to get help diagnosing what wrong with
my pppoe link.
SO far i know, that mouse-pppoe almost works, but isgetting bounced with
chap authenitcation (As my isp doesn;t do pap).
Now i tried to setup a chap-secrets file in /etc/ppp/chap-secrets
I fixed the syslog problem, i was logging ppp, and should have been
logging pppd :)
First i was getting this error in the logs.
Oct 9 00:55:51 poley pppd[3723]: pppd 2.3.5 started by jason, uid 0

Now that i was told was CHAP authentication crapping out. Correct ?
SO becasue it was chap, i set chap-require as an optionn, and i recompiled
mouse-pppoe. Then when i tried to run it i got.
Oct 9 01:13:42 poley pppd[27479]: peer authentication required but no
suitable
secret(s) found
Oct 9 01:13:42 poley pppd[27479]: for authenticating any peer to us
(poley)
My /etc/ppp/chap-secrets looks like
# Secrets for authentication using PAP
# client server secret IP addresses
"aaustr10_(_at_)_bpa" pppoe "password"
"austr10_(_at_)_bigpond" pppoe "password"
I'm aware this is a pap secrets file, i simply copied over the pap one,
becasue it had the same headers as the empty chap-secrets. Did i do
something wrong here ?
Any ideas people's ?
Jason
