It's probably better to specify a date.  I just updated my box to
the Oct 21 snapshot.

(BTW, why does the first AHA-2940 show up as ahc1 rather than ahc0?)

Looks to me like a cabling or termination problem.

That setup has some potential for such problems.

I'm skeptical.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I use an AHA-2940W (sic) without
anything I'd classify as a problem.  The LED never comes on, but
that's cosmetic.  Disk accesses are noticeably slower than when I
ran FreeBSD on the same hardware, but that's probably due to issues
in higher layers, and besides it's a purely subjective observation
as I didn't record any benchmark figures.
