2.8 snapshot & problems with pci bus detection.

My trusty Compaq Prolinea 5/90 has been running 2.7 and tracking
the 2.7 patch branch with no problems. It currently has a freshly
re-built checkout of 2.7 -stable from Sat. 21st Oct. which works
fine. It also historically ran 2.6 before that, again no problems.

While trying to test the 2.8 snapshot, I've hit a snag. The kernel
seems to have a problem detecting pci0 and I'm unable to rectify
this. I've tried floppy28.fs, floppy28B.fs & floppy28C.fs, (dated
Oct 17th and also Oct. 21st) but get the same result. As my nic is
on the pci bus, installation grinds to a halt at this point.

In the 2.8 snapshot, at boot up I get the following, which I've
never seen on this machine before:

pcibios at bios0 function 0x1a not configured

All attempts to fix this with UKC> have failed, but I'm not well
experienced at this level. Install.i386, boot_config(8) faq et all
have not so far provided any answers, so in desperation I'm asking
here. The Compaq bios has no options for setting irq's etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions or pointers where I should be
looking or what doc's I should be reading? I'm really quite lost
for answers at this point.
