RE: How do you mount a Win98 drive under OpenBSD

Yes although OpenBSD is secure it would be a far better OS if it did have more support from people and businesse's think about having a entire corporation writing open source software for openbsd or having and entire corporation backing OpenBSD with hardware support. And although OpenBSD is secure it shouldn't require having to read man pages and FAQ's for hours to figure out a simple thing like mounting a drive that is one reason a lot of companies don't use Unix is because it often does require you spend hours learning basic things unless 1. you've had training or 2. their are people like Steve Andre nice enough to just tell you the command or how to do it. I love OpenBSD and love the fact that when on IRC and some lamer says, "you better shut up or I am gonna hack you" I can sit here and laugh, I love the stability, and I love the quality but I would also like to see it supported by more people and companies. Tell the person what the command is and give them some advice if they decide to go the extra mile and learn exactly how and what the command is doing they have furthered their knowledge,or if they decide to just use it because it works and don't care about how great for them they lose out on some valuable information but that loss is up to them not others to say we aren't holding your hand go figure it out yourself.

Aha! Now see, if you had said "I've looked at the man pages, and can't
quite figure it out. Here's the command I tried, and here's the error
I got.", then you probably would have gotten mostly pretty civil responses.
Instead, you complain about not wanting to read the man pages, and just
demand answers ready-made for your situation.

Also, you should realize that, by and large, the OpenBSD user base doesn't
really care whether or not you (or anyone else, for that matter) likes us.
We care about secure systems. That means we appreciate the effort put
forth by the developers, and we appreciate the fact that to *keep* our
"secure by default" systems secure, we need to understand just what we
are doing.

If all you care about is ease of use, then my honest recommendation
would be to stick with Windows. If you need *nix type tools, then
go with a Linux distribution. Like you said, a lot of this stuff has
easy-to-use tools. And odds are, if you have a question, someone's
done up a web page on how they did it. 8)
