Hi 

  I did do a test in which I didn't have any /etc/hostname.qe? and the
boot passed OK and I was able to use the machine. So I tried to ifconfig
each of the 4 qe interfaces. All caused kernel panic when I pressed
enter.  This happened on 2 different machines (I still have 2 more I can
try it on, but I doubt any of them will be any different).
