I want to upgrade one of my systems. I'm trying to learn what the
options are so I can decide how best to proceed. I've scoured the
website trying to find some info, but I've come up dry... I'm hoping
someone can point out something I've overlooked. (And yes, I've read
the upgrade mini-FAQ, but it doesn't apply)
I hope to upgrade my 2.6 box to 2.8 soon. I was planning on waiting
until I got the 2.8 cd. Then, I noticed that the developers have
already started a patch branch for 2.8. So - it occurred to me that
perhaps the quickest and easiest thing to do might be just to do this
over the network; either an ftp install, or... I don't know - maybe cvs
can do this??
I know in the past the cd's have had an "upgrade" option, but I've
never used this. There doesn't appear to be much on the website that
describes how this feature works.
I'd just like to understand the options a little better before I go
plunging into the upgrade. Any references to available documentation
would be appreciated.
Thanks,
James Moore
