John,
cdrecord works just fine in OpenBSD with IDE/ATAPI drives, you just need to
specify the device that your cdrw device is connected with the dev= command
line. Something like:
cdrecord dev=/dev/cd0a myimg.iso
Try to look at the list archives for more information on that...
